And with that the Edge Hill athletics Indoor season has officially come to a close, and what a weekend to finish on! I speak from all of us in the athletics committee when I say a huge congratulations to everyone who competed and came along to support their fellow athletes. The atmosphere created by the team was one of the best we have ever had, getting numerous shoutouts from the BUCS organisers not only for being the ‘loudest team’ but also for the quality of our athletes proving all the hard work we are putting in is truly paying off.

A special congratulations goes to all of those who broke club records this weekend including; Ryan Mostyn with his 60m and 200m performances, David Naylor with his performance in the 60m H, our women’s 4 x 200m relay team (Olivia Fowler, Amelia Large, Rebecca Weekes, Alice Woodhouse), and a stand out performance from Stephanie Jones breaking the club record placing her overall 4th in the Women’s Long Jump. The achievements don’t stop there with multiple athletes reaching the semifinals of their events, in some cases reaching multiple semi finals, including; Olivia Fowler, Alice Woodhouse, Rebecca Weekes, Stephanie Jones and Ryan Mostyn. Almost the entire team ran personal bests or seasons bests, a testament to the hard work put in by everyone over the winter. Also a big shout out to crowd favourite, Sophie Warden, for a phenomenal performance as Edge Hill Bill.

Unfortunately this weekend we witnessed one of our athletes, Ben Whittaker, competing in their last university competition and I speak for everyone when I say we are so sad to see him go. Competing with Ben over the last three years has been a true highlight and he is a key member who will be truly missed. Us at EHA wish the very best to both him and his beautiful boy Nolan in the future, don’t be a stranger and remember Ben, you always look better in green.

Congratulations everyone, see you on the track!
