Regional Outdoor Season Openers

Starting off the outdoor season stronger than ever, we competed at both Lancaster and Northern cup this week and yet again came away having won multiple events, smashed club records and shown our amazing development over the last few years. Everyone who competed over the last two competitions should be proud to have been a part of at least one, if not both of the most competitive teams we have had in a long time!

Starting off last Saturday, at Lancaster cup, Edge Hill began our reign of terror, filling the events with green vests. The event was not as hotly contested as previous years but that didn't stop our athletes giving it everything. Throughout the day we saw Edge Hill coming away with multiple victories showing off our skills and finesse.  A special shout out goes to Alex Slater who threw a new club record in the shot putt.

Moving onto Northern cup only a few days later we brought our A game smashing even more club records and personal bests finishing overall 2nd. The development we have seen as this team becomes full of medal contenders has been amazing and sets us up perfectly going into both varsity, and the final university competition of this season, BUCS outdoors. A special shoutout to the following who all won their events; Rebecca Weeks 400mH, Ryan Mostyn 100m + 200m, Olivia Fowler 100m, Se Loughlin 1500m, Alice Woodhouse 200m. A big shout out to our mixed 4 x 400 team (Callum, Rebecca, Lucci, Basit) for smashing a new club record finishing overall 1st. Also to our women's 4x100m team (Ellie Loweth, Alice Woodhouse, Lucci Baker and Sophie Warden) who also placed 1st overall. Congratulations from everyone on the committee, you did us all proud and I speak for everyone at Edge Hill Athletics when I say, BUCS under-estimate us at your peril …

Edge Hill Athletics have a point to prove, and we won’t let anyone get in our way
