Although it wasn’t the muddiest of courses, Saturday’s Ron Hill Cross Country Relay, hosted by the University of Manchester, was by no means easy. On October the 28th, three teams, comprised of our very own Edge Hill athletes, proved that this season is going to be one to watch. All our runners completed the course, not only in record breaking times, but also in style.
A special congratulations must be given to Brandon Quinton, who broke the men’s course record with his standout performance, even whilst running two back-to-back legs of the relay. This was not the only Edge Hill record set on Saturday, as both our Men’s and Women’s teams were able to set some speedy new times teasing a potentially amazing season ahead of them. It was also fantastic to see seven new athletes making their debut in an Edge Hill vest for the very first time, not only for this season, but for their future amongst our growing team which keeps getting better and better each year. Hopefully none of our athletes were scared off by the cold, muddy, and especially rainy race and will make more appearances for Edge Hill in whatever capacity that may be.
From myself I can only say how proud I was to see both new and old athletes competing, but more importantly enjoying themselves while doing it, thank you to everyone who took part in the first of many Edge Hill races on the 28th of October and I wish you the very best of luck for the 2023/24 season.
